They say “the key to get ahead is getting started” but it’s never that easy to start something new, like picking up the tools you might need for your journey and get going, opening that book and start writing, picking up your phone and accept that invitation or even dropping everything and follow your dreams. It’s just never that easy even though sometimes you know it’s exactly the right thing to do because fear will hold you back.
I’ve been looking forward to finally start writing something on this page. I felt so powerful and ready for it for couple of months, but now that, that long awaited moment has finally arrived something keeps holding me back. I lost the count of excuses I came up with to keep away from this keyboard because fear keeps strangling my thoughts.
You know, dreaming is easy, you can sit down in your room, your office, in the shower with a roll on as your mic or anywhere else where you get to organize your thoughts without disturbance, that’s very easy, anyone can do it but the most terrifying part is going out there to present those thoughts, challenge the world, visualize what’s been going on in your mind because you turn to think what if I fail, what if I don’t meet the expectations, what if this and what if that. Unfortunately, those what if’s remain what if’s until you get started and sadly wait for the outcome.
My favorite and greatest rapper Tupac Shakur said, “Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside while still alive” Those are very wise and encouraging words, but that doesn’t lift me up or squash my fear, it only inspires me to deprive it an opportunity to comfortably sit and die inside me, pushes me to take control of it, makes me scared to let what’s been growing inside me for the past couple of years die while I’m still alive.
During my spare time I write, people always jump to ask “what are you writing about” and I always struggle to answer that because I don’t have a specific answer for it. The truth is, I write about everything that comes to my mind at any given time. It might be poems, short stories, motivational letters and everything else I don’t even know which category they fall under. If you’re one of those I failed to answer when asking that question, here is your opportunity to finally understand why, but if I never met you or talk to you before, I invite you to walk with me. I hope I’ll add value with my words and hopefully your comments will make me a better writer.
By the way my name is Loid and I’ll be responsible for all the words on this page, I hope you enjoy every moment of it whenever you visit.
