My days are just the same. The difference is how I start and get through each one of them

People say that days are not the same, I disagree. Days are just the same, or at least mine are always the same. They’re difficult, they’re full of challenges, and are barely nice, or full of fun. It's just work, work, work, and more work to get through on each one of them

The only difference is how I handle them. On some days, I wake up full of energy, with a will to accept that this is my life and I have to accept it as it is, and I easily get through that day without feeling like it’s a burden

Some days, I wake up feeling like I made a mistake waking up. Everything feels heavy, from my heart to my head, and it becomes a struggle to get anything done.
But my days are just the same, except for my energy levels and the desire to face them head-on

As a result, I don’t measure my days based on how I feel, but based on what I had managed to get done on the day versus what I had planned or needed to be done for that day. I focus more on results, not how I feel, because sometimes it’s sad, tiring, and all sorts of other feelings. But if I managed to get everything done, everything I set out to do before that day ended, for me it was a good day. It doesn’t matter if I had to run to get it done, beg someone for help, pay someone, or put in some extra hours. If I managed to complete all the planned tasks, a beautiful day it was

As I occasionally mention in my posts, I watch a lot of movies when time permits, and I learn something with every movie I choose to watch every single time

“Why did I get married?” was one of the movies I watched when I got exposed to the world of movie downloads/sharing. My brother brought it with a lot of other newly released movies in 2007

What stood out to me in that movie at the time was the part where Janet Jackson, a.k.a Patricia, gets a call from her friends because they’re having crises in their marriages. After they explained to her what was so pressing that she had to leave work, she gave them papers and asked them to:

“On one side, List all the bad he’s ever done
On the other side, list all the good he’s ever done
If the bad outweighs the good, let it be, don’t hold on, just let it go
But if the good outweighs the bad, be a good little woman and fix it”

I think that helped them realize what they had versus what they didn’t have

I do that all the time in my life, I look back when I feel stuck or lack motivation. I take a moment to look at what’s been good and what’s bad at that time, and in most cases, I find that I’m blessed because I always have more of what’s good than what’s bad. I even realize that I always have solutions to my problems and other people’s problems, and I think that is the greatest gift ever. And I must say, it keeps me going because I feel a sense of appreciation that even if I’m struggling at that moment, I know I’ll eventually find a solution to my problem

Here’s what I think: pain blinds you, difficult times take a toll on you, but looking back and reflecting, counting your blessings might just be what you need to carry on. It might help you realize that there’s more to be grateful for in your life than the few setbacks you encounter every once in a while
Even if all you see is pain and struggle, you might just realize that God/the higher power is using you to empower and change the lives of others around you

Before you feel burdened with all the bad, your days aren’t always the same, count your blessings and see if life hasn’t been in some way good for you, and try to appreciate the small wins because that attracts bigger wins. Don’t be blinded by one single draining day when you had 100 more good days

“It's all about one day at a time, one day at a time”
