Just listen, say no words

As I grow older, I listen more, I take time to respond, I take longer to react, and I’ve realized time is the greatest gift

Asking more questions has always been ingrained in me, but with age, my questions are precise

It took me a little longer to achieve this, but I’ve learned that sometimes, all you

have to do is listen.  Don’t say a word, just listen

People don’t talk to us about what’s troubling them. They don’t open up to us because we always have something to say

Someone wants to tell you about their day, how exciting it was. There you are, telling them how amazing yours was, and you take a chunk of the conversation dwelling on good things about your day and yourself. By the time they get a chance, they already feel small. Like there’s no need to continue with what they had to say

Sometimes someone wants to tell you how bad their day was, and here you are, excited about something they end up keeping to themselves in fear of spoiling your day

Just listen, say no words

Even if you’re the one with all the answers. You always know what needs to be done, what to say. It’s OK to just listen and say no words because sometimes people don’t want your advice, they don’t want to be told what to do, or that it’s gonna be ok, but they want someone to listen, let them open up, cry without being judged, and then pick themselves up

There’s a solution for everything. It might be hidden sometimes, challenging to get to it, but sometimes talking to someone, crying your lungs out in front of the person who is willing to listen, is the only solution people need

Just listen, say no words
