We went to school to get a good education so that we can find a better job, but are there any left, are there still any better jobs left for us to fill, because all the companies adopted a “No vacancy” strategy boldly plated in their main gates when you hand-deliver your CV. The Internet has more scams than the actual jobs to apply for, the price of newspapers goes down reasonably well into your pocket, so is faxing.
Are there any better jobs left for us to fill, those who graduate to get something to reward themselves for all the troubles they went through because I searched for it for too long.
I somehow ignored the fact that income was the main important thing because I was fed up of taking any job and searched for a better job instead of any job that will earn me more money to pay my bills like everybody else, but I ended up at home doing nothing because the jobs I found weren't meeting the idea of a better job I was looking for.
I watched months go by with nothing coming my way, as a result, I had no choice but to accept anything because the idea of a better job I had in mind was slowly vanishing.
Standing in the queue one afternoon, I overheard some guy complaining about job scarcity in our country, he was talking to what seemed to be someone he just met on the same queue. Along his complaints, he mentioned that he sent 200 CVs in six months. I immediately realize that he hadn't done anything because that was probably the number of CV’s I would send in one week, especially at the beginning of the month where most vacancies open up. That’s mostly the time where people submit their resignation letters planning to move on, to go to other companies and few of them retiring.
In some cases I would just fall in love with the company looking from their website, what they do, all the promises they make about how good and rewarding it is working for them and simply find an excuse to submit my CV, hoping that a step in might open more opportunities, even if I start as a cleaner, believing it's easy to get something valuable in the house when you're inside than when you're outside looking in, but no luck still.
The guy’s complaints somehow made me realize I was not the only one because he mentioned that the only thing he was mostly exposed to was lousy jobs that only make our lives more difficult than they were before we got those kinds of jobs. When you’re there you run around like a slave, the only thing you have to share about your day when you get home is how much you hate your job.
We work our butts so hard, but we always complain about how little the money we get as a reward when the end of the month comes or the treatment we receive on a daily basis. Sometimes we get lucky, do what we love in our respective jobs, but we always have something to complain about, that’s just the benefit of being an employee.
Over the years I realized that we limited ourselves, our mindset to good education and a better job after. We never thought about being the ones who create those jobs for everybody else. Companies are closing down for different reasons, people lose their jobs and unemployed are lingering at home with all the qualifications that are needed to get a good job, but they’re not helping them because we never prepared ourselves about what we would do should we not get that better job. So instead of going to school preparing ourselves to get a perfect job, we need to acquire more knowledge based on what we really good at, a better job will follow. We need to be the ones who open job opportunities for those unemployed individuals to get a startup for their lives.
Even if people think of you as a man with three more jobs, it's ok but you need to be part of something memorable. Don’t go to school to get a good education that will land you a better job later, rather go to school to get skills that will empower you to create better jobs for everyone.
Don’t settle for your job only, but something should keep you awake every day. You need to find something that will consume most of my time, even if it’s not giving you anything in return but satisfaction, eventually it will and you’ll thank yourself for it.
